Hi Jeff,
I appreciated your discussion of scripts.
Question:
I have gotten weary with patches.
When I read that there was another patch after 25, I was
rather distraught but elated when someone on the list said that patch 26 was for
Magic users & so I ignored it.
I use JFW3.3.25 now.
>From your present discourse it sounds as though I should dowload patch 26 to get all
the latest scripts.
Is this correct?
If so, where do I find it?

Many thanks in advance.

Subject: Re: IE5 Scripts

I believe I answered this question, but since you asked for
clarification, let me elaborate.

With each release of JFW, HJ distributes a set of scripts for various
applications. As time passes, some of these applications are updated
and changed which might invalidate some of the scripts that HJ
originally distributed. The next time HJ releases JFW they usually
update the scripts to account for the updates in these applications.
But in the meantime, some people update to these new versions of
applications before JFW is updated. Therefore, they need updated
scripts. If one of the JFW users creates new scripts, they are often
sent to Nick for inclusion on the mailing list web site.

However, keep in mind that the next time HJ releases a new version of
JFW, they will include updated scripts to replace their previous ones
and usually they also replace the ones available on the mailing list
web site.

this is the case for the scripts for IE and OE 5. Since IE and OE 5
were released before HJ released JFW 3.3, some JFW users created
scripts to work with IE and OE 5 under JFW 3.2. However, When HJ
released JFW 3.3, they updated the scripts to work with IE and OE 5.
In fact, the original release of JFW 3.3 had some bugs in some of the
OE scripts and they were fixed with the patch. So, now the scripts
which were distributed with JFW 3.30.26 are the most recent and they
are the ones that work best with IE and OE 5 -- I can speak from
experience on this as well as pure common sense. They work even
better than did the scripts on the mailing list site. That is why I
recommended that you use the scripts that came with the JFW 3.30.26
version.

Now, HJ does not provide scripts for all possible applications. ICQ
and CuteFTP are a couple that come to mind. So, if you use these
applications, you should get these scripts from the mailing list site
if you want them. I hope this clarifies my answer. Let me know if
you have further questions.
