JFD and Soundcards

Hello all:
 
I am writing to enquire whether Jaws for DOS works with any commercially
available soundcard or is it necessary to have a hardware synthesizer. If
it does, which synthesizer option should one choose during installation in
order to configure JFD to work with a soundcard? Thanks.
