Hi Michael,
I checked out the mail to option in the file menu while in MS Word8.0 in
Office 97.
While in a word document go to the file menu alt+f and arrow down to the
choice of mail to submenu, then arrow right for choices. The first choice
in my word processing program is mail recipient. Press enter on that choice
and complete the rest of the email message as you ordinarily would except
for the subject line, which I have found by experience does not work in
transmitting the file, if I change it in any way. In the body of the
message you can write anything you wish, then send it with the send command
alt+s to place it in your outbox, using Outlook Express, or to send it via
your ISP (Internet Service Provider) with the send/receive command
control+m.
