Hit Shift+Ctrl+AlphaNum8 to turn off the Word formatting characters.

I have a document that I'm trying to read in word, and it keeps reading the
paragraph marks and other formatting information.
I went into the configuration manager and made sure that the format options

not checked, does any one know why this would be happening?
