Creating Dialog Resources in MS Visual C++

I am having difficulty in creating dialog resources (edit boxes, check boxes, etc.) 
in Microsoft's Visual C++ (Version 6.0).  This is a highly
visual interface and moving resource items around with
the mouse, etc. doesn't seem to work well.  Has anyone found
a work-around for creating and managing such resources?
