Now, for the benefit of anybody else that needs to do this, Her is what
finally worked for me.
I used the find command from explorer, which is on my start menu, so that
made it easy, and when it found the jfw shortcut, because that is what I
had called it, I then pressed delete on it, and it asked me to confirm, and
I pressed enter on ok, and when I looked on my start menu, it was finally
gone. I also had to use norton's win doctor to clean the register out of
the shortcut. I was always told that a program's uninstaller if it had one
did the best job, but in the case of jfw, that is not true.
