How about just inactivating the KeyPad in K1000, using the top row function
keys instead for scanning and other K1000 functions, and letting the numpad
work for JFW instead as it does elsewhere? I believe that is possible, and
a little exploration of the Settings (I think) menu would elicit it. You
can make the Keypad calculator or telephone, or, as it is sometimes called
the "speech pad", render it inactive and let JFW do the speaking.

: I'm trying to write scripts to use with Kurzweil 1000, but am running
into a
: problem.
: When I need to set a frame around an area that has a message or dialog
box,
: the box goes away with any keypress, including the Control key!
: Any suggestions?
: And, yes, I know that one could just use Kurzweil's own speech features,
but
: I want to write scripts for JFW's use with it--one less set of commands
to
: learn. Hopefully, by stating that, it will keep 60 replies from users
: saying, "You don't need scripts, just use Kurzweil's built-in speech
: features!"<grin>
: Thanks,
