Hello Teresa,
Have you, by any chance, used my script that fixes the problem of JFW not
announcing the status of a checkbox after you've hit space to check or
uncheck that particular box? If so, I put a line in that script to have it
say "Space" if the current item isn't a checkbox.
Here is that ScriptTip#105, and you'll notice that it has the
SayString("Space") line... just place a semicolon at the beginning of that
line to keep the Space from being announced.
Try this little step first to see if you have that script installed already:
1) Hit Control+Shift+0 to launch the Script Manager with default.jss loaded.
2) Hit Control+L to bring up a list of scripts and functions in this file.
3) Hit the letter "S" to reach the beginning of that section in the list.
4) Arrow down to see if you have a script named "SpaceBar." If so, whack
Enter to jump to this script, then arrow down to the line that reads
SayString("Space")
Place a semicolon in front of that line and hit Control+S to compile.
If you don't have that script, do this just to make sure it isn't named
something else:
1) Hit Escape to get out of that script list.
2) Hit F3 to launch the Search function.
3) Type in the word "Space" including the quotes, and whack Enter.
4) Hit Escape to end the search function and see if you are in the script
that announces that word.
If it is the particular script we're searching for, then follow the same
procedure above to semicolon the SayString line, then compile with
Control+S.
