I feel like I have been answering this question for ages. Here at the tech
center I work for, we are currently using jfw 3.2 with Dragon
Naturallyspeaking 3.01 professional and a product called Jawbone, which are
a bunch of jfw and dragon scripts to make the two work together. You can
get information about jawbone at the Next Generation Technologies web site
at http://www.ngbvoice.com. It is an expensive system, since you need a
reasonably powerful system, Pentium II, 128mb ram, to use it, but it is
doable. I would push you towards this system if at all possible. There is
an upgrade, I think, to naturallyspeaking, 3.52, and I think Jawbone is on
version 2,.0. With Jawbone and jfw3.3, or 3.2, the training screens in
naturallyspeaking are accessible and the feedback in the program is good.
You can use jfw commands with speech as well, thanks to some
well-programmed dragon scripts. Bear in mind, that you need to use dragon
naturallyspeaking professional only, since that is the only version that
can import new scripts. You can use the cheaper Naturallyspeaking
preferred, but you will not be able to use jFW voice commands with Jawbone,
you will still have to use the keyboard for any command not built into the
dragon product. If you need more info, please let me know. I would try to
avoid dictate if at all possible, it is not nearly as good as this system,
and the scripts are limitted. In addition, naturallyspeaking will allow
more ntaural dictation, instead of a word at a time.
