I have just moved back to the U.K I was formally [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I am now [EMAIL PROTECTED] I need scripts for office 2000 especially
word. I am using a demo of jfw 3.3 and have 3.2 I took some scripts from
3.3 and now when I select text in word it does not work. any help will be
appreciated.

I have not been following this thread, but just yesterday, I lost the
ability to use control arrow keys in certain apps both from the jaws cursor
and pc cursor. I am running the latest JFW 3.3.x. Not sure if this is what
you all are talking about but if not, add it to the list!

Hello Scott.
Well, first things first. To transfer the entire contents of a drive to
another, including hidden files, along with those on the boot sector, use
the xcopy program with a number of switches. These switches will make the
transfer quiet, complete and leave you with every single file from the
primary drive on the second drive. Use the following command with run:
xcopy c:*.* /e/h/k/r/c d:
This command, of course, assumes that your destination drive is d.
Now, as to the key issue, it depends, of course, on whether you have the
older or new protection system. If you are using the Everlock system, as
you know, you should remove it from your source drive first by going into
dos from Windows, logging onto the a drive, then typing evmove c: a:. If
you have the newer system, then remove the key by running the windows
program on your authorization disk called jfwauth.exe. With this much
improved system, you can easily obtain count info, remove or place keys etc.

My advice, is also to upgrade to a more up-to-date version of jfw.
I don't use jfw with braille so am no use there, but the good news is that
jfw 3.31 will support Lotus Notes r 5 so you'll need jfw 3.31 to have any
hope in using Notes. I believe that 3.31 will be out in the next six weeks
or so.
Also, if you upgrade, you'll get the training tapes etc.
I find ie 4.01 or ie 5.0 to be the best browsers to use with jaws.

I, personally, have never been too successful at getting jfw to work with
Lotus Notes--maybe others here have.
One thing that would really be helpful, I think, would be to upgrade to a
later version of jfw. JFW3.2.09 is probably a couple of years old, and a
lot of advances have come out since then.

I also have had not very much luck running the auto graphics labeler. Part
of it may be that the programmers use pictures of words to label their
graphics, because when sighted people have been looking at the screen, they
will say, "well, it says xxx" but the autolabeler still does not recognize
the tool tip. It is a great idea, however, so please continue to develop it.
Also, if people in the programming industry can be made aware of the fact
that this tool exists with JFW, maybe they can make their programs more
friendly for its use.

the JFW sleep mode with Ruby; never could get that thing to work. The Ruby
disk has its own file which will disable JFW when Ruby is running so you
will not get double speech both from JFW and Ruby. You will want to use the
custom install so that you can install whatever synthesizer you want to use.

JFW3.3 has some embedded scripts for the Cakewalk software. That program
allows you to record music from another source, i.e. a synthesizer, or you

If you tried transferring, and you typed the command like you typed in in
your message below, there is no space in the command of evmove. Go to your
floppy with your quthorization disk in place, and type "evmove c: a:"
without the quotes. Your key only goes on the c: drive.
Xcopy is no good for copying windows and some windows related files, I
recently started using ghost, and it works fine, and some people like
seagate backup, but I have never tried that.

Subject: Jaws and mp3
I have downloaded winamp 2.23 and 2.24 on my system. However when I try
playing an mp3, it starts playing the song, but once the song is finisshed
it just crashes the system by giving an illeagal operation. This did not
happen before Jaws was installed. I can't even get out during the song by
alt+f4. Can someone help. Before I was using an older version of Winamp
and it worked fine. But I can't find that anymore.

If you use the ruby disabling of jfw feature, actually, what it does is to
put jfw to sleep. I am using it, and it works fine. The only thing that
it won't let me do is to tab in and out, but when you bring up ruby, jfw
goes to sleep, and when you close down ruby, it wakes up jfw again.

Subject: editing the register in quicken 98
Hello, folks. I have a problem, I'm finding it hard to void or delete
transactions in the quicken register. I'm also having problems trying to
find duplicate entries. For example, I accidentally listed an entry twice
butt, when I went to find it or the entry I thought got listed twice, I
could only see one occurance of the entry and the rest looked the same with
the exception of my ballance. Is there anyway to set jfw up so you can see
the entries in the register as they appear or is this a problem in quicken
98 and jfw?

My experience is different: I have recently loaded a demo of Ruby and
didn't use the Custom install. I added the *.JCF file they recommend
(which puts JAWS to sleep) and have had no problem running JAWS this way.

Go into the Default Configuration Manager with <Insert6> then <AltShiftD>.
Press <S> for set options and <U> for user options. Tab five times to
where it says "key repeat checkbox ... if not checked which is the default,
check it with spacebar. Save your changes. ControlArrow keys should now
work normally, in apps where the PC and JFW cursors function.

Hi there Gwen,
it does work well with cakewalk 6 pro audio! have you tried getting a
copy of the program though! not really handy i don't think as this has now
moved on and we can't get jfw to resolve problems we are now having trying
to upgrade from cakewalk 6 to cakewalk 8, there needs some work doing by hj
to get this one resolved and soon if we aren't to slip behind with newer
software for music pro's that are trying to urn a living at it!

Subject: List of links in IE 5 with JFW 3.3
I have just installed my JFW 3.3 upgrade off the CD and installed the build
26 patch. I also upgraded to Windows 98, which upgraded me from IE4 to
IE5. Now with any page I go to with I E 5, when I use insert F7 to bring
up a list of links, JAWS says, "no links found in document." Also, when I
hit Insert F5 to reformat the page, JAWS says, "reformatting failed. Page
may not have finished loaded." However, I am able to tab through the
links, and I was able to download the JFW 3.3.26 patch. I tried running JFW
3.2 with I E 5, but it couldn't list the links or reformat the page either.
Are there some settings I have to change to get JAWS working properly
again? Thanks for any suggestions.

Subject: jfd and the SayAll command
This one's a jaws for dos question. I've read in the docs that the SayAll
command on my synth [doubletalk internal] will just fly through the
document spitting text at the thing until it's finished. I'm just curious
to know if anyone knows a way to make it behave more like the SayAll in
jfw. The manuals say something about indexing synthesizers but the
doubletalk doesn't support this feature. I want it to keep pace with the
synth rather than fly to the end of the text. It seems to work fine in
most other screen readers so why not jfd? Any suggestions?

Subject: Old clock script or macro?
Hello all,
I would be most greatful to anyone who may be able to supply me via private
E-mail with the old clock script or macro. Basically what this scrip/macro
did was to alert one to the time at intervals of the users choice. E.G. the
clock in windows would alert the user evry hour and play a sound file to
alert him/her to what the time was. I recall that this script needed the
user to create a frame then a function to go along with it. I need this
script as I want to modify it to create an event sort've action. What I
mean by this is I would like to see if jfw could activate a series of
keystrokes or a function based on the time of day!
Any help with this or the actual script would be much appreciated.

there are settings in ie under the advanced tab of internet options
that may need to be changed. also, you may need to re-install jfw
since it is customary to install jfw 3.3 after ie5 but that should not
be necessary. the ie help in jfw should guide you in this matter.
