I think that your suggestion for finding attachments in Outlook 98 with Jaws
is really the same idea as mine, but as you say, a little more tedious.
Clicking the right mouse button is the same as the shift+f10 keystroke; they
are both Windows commands to open a context menu. I tried your suggestion
in a message I received, but couldn't find the space in the message to get
the right context menu when I arrowed over 6 spaces. With every attachment
I have received to date, I have eliminated the need to guess whether there
is one before I open up the message, as well as not wasting the time moving
around with the Jaws and pc cursors. When arrowing down through my e-mail,
I simply press shift+f10 on a message, then arrow down to find the view
submenu, which will be there if there is an attachment. As I said before,
press enter from the view attachments submenu to have Jaws read the name and
number of attachments, and enter again on the attachment.
Three questions for Nick and the list: is there a way or desire for this
list to ask Microsoft to label the graphic indicating that there is an
attachment? Does the FAQ or the list archives keep a record of the most
effective and efficient way to accomplish something like finding attachments
with Jaws? Does anyone at HJ read these solutions so that tech support can
pass them on?
