Hello Bob and David, and anyone else who can help with the problem: Okay, heres the low down on my computer (I hope this will help with trying to figure this out.) Specifications for computer: It is a Pentium 2 350 mega hertz processor with 64 mega byte ram, and 6.4 gb hard drive. I don't have an external voice synthesizer, I do however use elequence/via voice. (Which depends on which program I'm using such as Open Book Ruby or JFW 3.3026) The programs I have are: JFW 3.3026, Outlook Express, Internet Exployer 4.01 MS Office 97, and Quicken 98 Deleuxe. Here are some other facts about when it stops and when it doesn't and any other pertinent information that might be needed to know: 1. Any time I've been working in a program for more than 10 minuetes it quit talking but not always. It's not picky about this time. 2. In order for me to get JFW to start again I have to shut down completely or restart from the start menue. 3. It will not start talking if I press "insert f4" to unload and then press "control, alt and J". 4. JFW is not checked to start when the computer is turned on. I must start it with "control, alt., J" to have it start talking. 5. I can alt. tab between applications and it will talk but it will stop talking sometime after I have been in a program for a while. It's not picky about the application or when it wants to quit. 6. It has always started talking again when I restart the computer after choosing restart or shut down. 7. I have run Dr. Jaws and it has found nothing wwrong with the system and says it is compatible to run JFW. 8. It is not in sleep mode. 9. I do not run any other program that uses sound at the same time I'am using JFW. 10. There are no error messages when it quits talking. I have had a sighted person to help me when this happens and none have shown up. 11. I have no problem running any of my other programs except for when JFW stops talking. I know this because my hubby has no problem using the computer. (and no, JFW is not running when he uses it, and he has not changed any of the settings or anything else.). Well I hope this helps with trying to figur out this very frustrating problem of mine. Thanks again for all the help! Christina P.S.
