The subject tree Yahoo(http://www.yahoo.com) has an entire category devoted to
beginner's guides to HTML,
the Hypertext Markup Language which is the language to encode web pages. I first (and
often still ) used NotePad to enter HTML by hand.
Even if you use an HTML editor or web publishing package like FrontPage 98, it still
is a good idea to know at least the basics of HTML so you can correct any errors in
the code produced by such software or if you want to make modifications to the code.
The full path to the Yahoo category mentioned above (very very long - definitely a
cut-and-paste job!) is:

There are many many guides to HTML online on all levels of detail, but many I have
found are difficult to read
with a screen reader.
There is also a discussion group particularly designed for beginners called
