Dick, might I inquire what you have in startup, that is, what programs are
brought up when Windows loads. Because of the high speed of yourc computer
and amount of ram, the question I ask is not likely to account for the
stammering you still get. Word, the memory hog it is, frequently causes
soft synthesizers to chatter, sometimes even with high-speed machines.
Something you might also do is to load word and any other programs that you
normally run simultaneously, if any, then holdd own your start button and
press the right-most key of the three just above the six-pack. This
accesses a program that gives you various performance statistics, including
system resources. What percentage of resources do you show when Word is up.
