Hi, john,
If you already have JAWS installed, just reinstall over your present
copy. There's no need to mess with the key, since it's already on your hard
drive. Choose the "custom install" and choose Braille Lite. Choose a com
port that nothing else is using; I have mine on com 1.
You should have a cable that has a DIN connection similar to the
keyboard or mouse connector. That end goes to the unit. The other end is a
parallel connection, and you should have a parallel-to-serial connector and
you'll probably need a gender changer, too. Mine included these and various
other adapters.
I just leave the cord connected to the computer, and disconnect my unit
and go when I want to use it as a notetaker.
Also, before JAWS loads, go out of local mode by pressing dots
3-4-5-chord and then dots 1-2-3-4-chord. Be sure to go into the default
configuration manager, set options, Braille options, and uncheck "show
Braille-load error."
Hope this helps.
Teresa
