This response is long in coming, but I thought you might like to know that
I am using a Toshiba Portege 3023ct/6.4 computer, a subnotebook, which is
working out quite well. The machine is both thin and small, about
three-quarters of an inch thick and about the size of a sheet of typing
paper. I like to connect it to a standard keyboard so that I don't have to
use the laptop JFW keystrokes, but if this is not possible, I do quite well
with the keyboard included in the computer. I cannot get multiple audio
streams with the Yamaha OPLcSA sound card, but the video card is a
Neomagic, and things work well enough.
