Several things.
Most importantly, you are not going to be able to use eloquence with a voice
chat program unless you have a multi-channel sound card. Most sound cards
are not multi-channel except the really expensive ones. I say you can't, I
should say not with both of them running at the same time. Since eloquence
and any voice chat program both try to take full use of the sound card, they
tend to really fight each other. A couple solutions. One, try to get your
hands on a hardware synth. Even if you have a braille 'n speak, or something
like that, you can use it while you are chatting voice and then switch back
to eloquence when you don't need the sound card for anything else. I have
also heard that you can set it where jaws goes to sleep in these types of
programs, or muting the eloquence synth. The only problem here is that if an
error occurs in the voice program you won't know it, or won't know what it
is. Secondly, ICQ itself does not require voice chat. It's actually a text
chat program that also allows for voice. So you can use it for the text part
without worrying about the sound card. And no, you don't need special
software to get the microphone itself to work. Whatever voice chat program
you use will control the mike.
