yes as someone else said new text appears from the bottom of the screen and
scrolls up so keep your cursor at the bottom of the screen and you should
be alright.
when you get connected to a server you can type
/list to see a list of all channels on that server.
note all mirc commands are prefixed with a slash e.g /list and all channel
names prefixed with the number sign e.g #help or #beginners
in the list of channels the number after the channel name tells you how
many people are in that channel, while your new to irc I would suggest
trying to keep to channels with ten people or less.
also note the channel list does not auto refresh so a list shows
information from the time the list was generated to get an updated list you
must type /list again. it is advisable to enter commands in the mirc
status window so that if you make a mistake it doesn't show to every one in
the channel or channels you are in.
mirc windows.
mirc usually has a number of windows open at any one time, the one which is
always open is the status window, this shows server messages such as when
you connect and disconnect.
the list window where channels are listed, and the channel window, which
contains the actual chat, any of these windows can be closed using control
f4.
you can also leave a chat channel by typing /part
and do dicconect from mirc type /quit. note this will disconnect you but
leave all windows open complete with contents at the time to disconned.
to move between windows use control tab - for best effects maximize the
window you are reading, if you have the mirc scripts available on the jfw
website you can do this by pressing alt x
chat buffer mirc buffers all text so if you missed what someone said and it
apears to have vanished off the top of your screen as new text appears
below it just switch to the pc cursor hit page up once return the jaws
cursor and you can read what was said on the previous page.
