Dear Mr. Craig,
I was so pleased to hear that the CD version of 3.3.1 will be available.
That really pleases me tremendously.
I am writing you confidentially, because i wanted you to know that I had
simply written to ask a question that I thought would have a
straight-forward, simple answer. Also I subsequently wrote that I expected
to get nothing for free.
What prompted my question were 3 situations. The first 2 were questions
from friends who had talked to henter-Joyce who had doubts about a release
on CD. the third is a bit trickier and to tell it right--I do need your
discretion here. i do not ever wish to get any one into problems, so I
request you do not inquire further when i explain my reason. i had been
semi-scolded for notgoing to 3.3. I had chosen not to go to 3.3, because
numerous friends whose knowledge I respect had either tried it or had
themselves been warned by counselors and JaWs teachers and some JAWS
resellers *not* to go to 3.3. So examining a lot of "iffy" situations and
outcomes from upgrading to 3.3, I chose to wait--which I thought was a
valid choice. What concerned me regarding the requirement that I should have
been in 3.3 was that to upgrade to 3.3.1, i would have to download 3.3.1
having just installed 3.3--which to my thinking was introducing a lot of
steps. i have had to re-install a lot of times and have had one
professional lose a key. So I did not relish the idea of upgrading to 3.3.1
the same day one sees works with 3.3 for the first time (many steps). I
could not be more pleased.
By the way, i would have paid $10 for 3.3.1 or for a diskette of any so
called "patch". I think a lot of the misunderstanding arises from the
misbelief that 3.3.1 is a lesser entity --something like a mere "patch"
instead of a multi-featured product.
Thus, sir, i think you are doing exactly the right thing that will pay off
in dividents-not only for the time and effort it saves us--but for the image
of your company.
I thought you might want to know that i was exactly pleased and then amazed
that you are offering the 3.3.1 gratis.
I hope this note might serve as a kind of encouragement in this case.
Sincerely,
Pat.
