WINDOWS 98 FILE CHECKER BUG

Microsoft recently identified a problem you may experience on your
Windows 98 system when running the File Checker tool. The problem
occurs when the tool inadvertently installs the wrong file in place of
a damaged or missing file in the Windows 98 system files. This will
cause your system to lock upon reboot. Microsoft has not released a
fix for this problem, stating that you can reinstall the damaged files
from your startup disk. The next service update will most likely
address this problem.
