Hi Jed;
I just installed the JAWS screen reader for DOS.
I did this because, when I use SCANDISK, I start it from DOS.
Here is what works for me.
When I installed JAWS FOR DOS, I accidentally let it change my autoexec.bat
so that every time I started my machine, it would run this program whether I
was in DOS or WINDOWS.
I went into my AUTOEXEC.BAT file and REMmed out the line that called it up.
Now that fix is out of the way, all I do is RESTART THE COMPUTER in M S DOS
mode and then, I created a BACH files so that, when I type "JAWS" with the
quotes is changes directories and then it starts JAWS.
When Jaws starts, I just type:
SCANDISK /NOSAVE /AUTOFIX
I use nosave and autofix because, nosave will not keep a log and Autofix
will automatically fix any errors.
If anyone has anything further please post it to the list because their may
be other people who have the same questions.
Also, after scandisk is finished with your JAWS cursor, find the button that
says "EXIT".
Route the PC cursor to this button and you will automatically exit scandisk.
Then just type "EXIT" at the Dos Prompt and your computer will boot up
normally.
