For the record, the other way to maximize the document area in word is to
run in full screen view, a choice from the view menu. I don't particularly
recommend this, since it also gets rid of the status bar, but it does make
for a very clear screen, only the menu bar title bar and text. Pressing
the escape key restores whatever toolbars are ordinarily seen.
