Hi to the List and HJ Staff
I have just begun working with the beta. I am very impressed with the
improved access to Internet Explorer, version 5. Being able to read a page
continuously to the end is a great addition. I have noticed that when
accessing a site with many links, JFW's virtual cursor seems to stop in the
middle of the list of links. I can use Page Down to move beyond that point,
but I'm wondering when it is appropriate to use either insert-down arrow or
when I can expect the page to be read from beginning to end? For example, I
went to CNN's site at http://www.cnn.com. I chose a linke to a story on Bob
Barker's hospitalization. The page started reading, but stopped before
getting to the story. There were 153 links on that particular page, as
reported by JFW. I certainly did not wish to hear all of the links anyway,
but could not easily get to the beginning of the story. How can that be
accomplished? Another issue I came across is in Quicken 98. When I loaded
this, I could not get the insert-page up key to read from the cursor to the
end of the line. When I have a transaction, I like to often hear its
details with that command. IN the beta, the date is read when the
insert-page up key command is issued, but nothing else. JFW reports the
Quicken 98 scripts as being loaded, which seems to be the case, since the
fields in the check register are verbalized. Thanks for the great
improvements made to Internet access, and for providing an opportunity to
provide feedback through this beta process.
Best Regards,
Les
