Whether I'm using IE 4.01 or IE 5.0, my computer will intermittently lock up
when I'm using JAWS and IE. Sighted users, who do not use IE, do not
experience this problem. The problem did not occur with JAWS 3.3.026 and IE
4.01, but it occurs in all other combinations. Nothing in particular seems
to cause this, but the computer definitely crashes. I am running Eloquence,
and no other synthesizers or Braille displays. I am running on a Pentium
2-366, with 64 MB RAM.
The computer crashes in one of three ways:
1. JAWS hangs. It can usually be shut down and then restarted, with no
noticeable effect on the system.
2. Nothing seems to crash, nothing shows as having "performed an illegal
operation" but JAWS falls silent. When this happens, shutting JAWS down and
then restarting JAWS does not result in the restoration of speech.
3. The entire computer simply hangs.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
