re--jfw saying file extentions;

I'm a new jaws user and I'm working my way through the training package
provided by the company.  I'm now in the usingwindows explorer section
where all my files should announce there extention letters, txt, etc.
I've run through the steps numerous times and everything checks out but
their is still no announcement.  anyone no why?  I'd spinn a load of
gold in to straw orsomething likethatto find out?  tia
