Hi Steve

As far as, i know that it should have any trouble when using JFW331 with
such a system.

the trouble was the lack or limited amount of cache memory for that kind of
processor, but i haven't heard of any problem with the current type of
procesor with 128k of cache memory.

have you look at a pentium 2

350, 400, or 450 MHz base system with 512k of cache and 128 mb of ram
memory.

you should shop arround if you can and see how low you can get it with
reasonable support for it, but it should be price at the same level or near
to the level of the processor base system that you are thinking about.

you don't really need to get a pentium 3 base system since the software that
will make use of those new commands are going to take a while if they are
ever use like the MMX commands were as far as, i know never taken full
advantage of when they came about by Intel, and a p2 base system or a
c366/400 with 128 mb of ram will more than likely be enough for you to get
by for a long time.

i should know since i have been using an commodore amiga 2000 for the last
16 years running at 7 MHz with one meg of ram memory, but i managed to make
the most of it that i could until this june when i got this new system.

good luck on finding a new system for yourself...
