closely in an effort to learn more and more about JAWS.
rmilliman had some valid gripes. It would be nice if everything were perfect
and every bug could be squashed. But I have read the development manager's
continual comments, too, which have addressed these concerns. This 3.31.35
is a freebee! HJ wanted us to have access to some really cool stuff sooner
rather than later. From what he writes, it seems many of the issues are
being worked on even after release, so the last public beta cycle was really
worth it. The public, the users, have identified many issues. It's probably
like triage, though, and they can't solve everything, ever; they have to make
hard and fast decisions and prioritize. We shouldn't take it personally. Be
proud to be a part of the making of this stuff.

On the other hand, since this is a free upgrade, we must temper
our complaints. Believe me, if HJ wanted to reduce my SMA count for
this, I would have been trying to organize everyone with an SMA to
take legal action against HJ if necessary. But the program is free. HJ
knows it's not ready, but wanted to give us access to the v cursor in
the meantime. And of course, they wanted to be able to say that JFW is
as good on the net as WindowEyes.

This is absolutely ridiculous, and it was made abundently clear to HJ
before this last release was released!
Now, maybe some of you have nothing better to do with your time than to go
in and fix HJ's bugs, but I simply do not have the time nor the desire to
do that, and I know I am not alone here on this point.
The comments I made before on this list were perhaps not conveyed
adequately, but I meant then, and still stand on my position, that HJ
should have caught many of these problems in-house before turning it over
to the beta testers on this list, and then, many of the problems and
concerns mentioned repeatedly on this list were either ignored or otherwise
not included in this last release, even after many of you put in
considerable effort in trying to help the process. Instead, we are already
informed that a bug patch is forthcoming for the release they just released.
Do not misunderstand. I have been a strong supporter of JFW and HJ, and I
still am. It is the best product of its kind on the market. However, this
last series of betas and near releases has created a lot of confusion and
controversy, which could have been avoided by slowing down the process a
little and working the product through a few more itterations in-house and
then, with the HJ selected beta testers. >>
