Tom and all,
You don't have to move an Executable to the desktop to create the shortcut.
Sometimes, particularly if you have had a shortcut before for an item, you
need to reboot before that new shortcut becomes useable.
In addition, you may well have to check that you haven't got any other
shortcuts to that executable or, alternatively, that the shortcut key isn't
being used elsewhere. Even shortcuts in applications can occasionally
cause problems here if you assign the same key to a shortcut.
