Yes Eudora 4.2 was doign that to me initiall amoung other problems.
Go into tools, then options.
Make sure you check sendign and receivng both for "plain text only."
That styled text makes Jaws see a blank message area.
Got that tip from HJ Tech Support.
It did work for me.
