Omnipage and scanners

Hi everyone,
   I am having a rather frustrating time with Omnipage 10 and my HP 5P
scanner. No matter how I try to install the scanner (as 5P or Generic twain)
omnipage insists on running DeskScan II software supplied with the scanner
to do the actual scanning. This is rather frustrating as each page is
scanned either 2 or 3 times. Any suggestions or similar experiences?
