Hello, Louis,
When I was buying mine in June, I looked particularly at the video cards.
There is a link on the HJ site giving a list of video cards that have been
tested and which are known to work out well with JFW. There is not much
choice in sound cards, and even the simpler ones will work with JFW. I
understand that in general the Thinkpads and the Dell computers work out
well. You might also try some of the blind computer vendors because they
would sell you a laptop which is configured to work with JFW.
My memory is that the IBM Thinkpad has a numeric keypad. I didn't buy it
because I could not get a worldwide warrantee, which I need. I also needed
a lightweight laptop. I bought a Toshiba Portege 3025, which works out fine
for me. The keyboard is very small, so I use an external full-sized
keyboard when I can; but the built-in keyboard works out well enough with
the JFW laptop commands.
