There are several ways to do this, I believe. So I will mention a couple of
them.
You can backup files on your hard disk drive by creating a backup folder on
your C: drive, then in many cases you can use the "save as" option in your
file menu to save the file like this:
c:\backup\filename
Another way is to save it on a floppy disk by using the "save as" option in
the file menu. When this is done type in the save as file as:
a:\filename
The floppy will store up to 1.4 MB .
For larger programs or files it is just sometimes better to rename them.
For instance choose the rename optionif it is available.
For example I am going to install IE 5.0 on my computer, but first I wish to
save the old Internet Explorer 4.01. When I focus on it, there is no file
command available in the file menu to "save as", but there is a context menu
of "rename". I will choose it and rename it to IE4.01.old. Then I will
install IE5.0. Once I am assured that jfw3.3 works well with IE5.0, then I
will re-install IE 5.0 after I have changed the name of IE4.01.old back to
its original name. Then I should be able to take advantage of any merge
procedures in upgrading from IE4.01 to IE 5.0.
I am still using jfw3.2, and I am upgrading this week to jfw3.3. The
upgrade disk is in hand.
If IE4.01, which works well with jfw3.2 , but jfw3.2 does not work so well
with IE5.0, can be upgraded to IE5.0 without malfunction of the screen
reader jfw3.3, I would like to know. This kind of information would tell me
whether or not I should use such back up procedures.
