This worked great for me. forwarded from bonnie schafer.
First of all, you have to make a new folder for your filtered messages to go
in to. To accomplish this do the following:
1. First, make sure you are in the folder tree view. then move the up
arrow key until you hear "local folders open" this is
where you want to create your new folder.
Press the alt key. This will bring up the menu bar and it should land on
file. Press the down arrow until you hear folder. Press enter. It will
say new. Press enter again and it will ask you for a folder name. Type in
your folder name and press enter. Also, be sure that you aren't in the body
of a message while doing this.
2. Press alt t this will bring you into the tools menu. Arrow down until
you hear message rules. Press enter. The first option it should land on is
mail and that is what you want so press enter. Tab once until you hear new.
Press enter. You will be taken into a list box of options you can choose.
For the sake of simplicity let us choose the second one where it says where
the subject contains specific words. Arrow down to that and press the
spacebar. Tab to the actions list box and the first item you land on will
be move to a specific folder. This is what you want so again, hit the
spacebar. Tab once and it will bring you to the rules description. Here is
where it gets a little tricky. Arrow down once and you should hear the
phrase "specific words". Route your Jaws cursor to the PC cursor and click
the left mouse button. It will read some information and ask you to type in
the words you want for this option. In a lot of mailing lists the subject
line will often times have a specific word in the subject line of all
messages regardless of what the sender puts in for their subject. You need
to be very specific about this. For example, one of my mailing lists has
the word earthwaves in the subject line. This particular word is surrounded
by brackets. You need to make sure that the line you type here is exactly
the way it would be in the subject line--for example I would type left
bracket earthwaves and then the right bracket and press tab. This gets you
to the add box and you press enter.
3. Get out of the Jaws cursor and back to the P.C. cursor and tab to okay.
Press enter. You will be taken back to the description box. Arrow down
until you hear "specified". Route the Jaws cursor to the P.C. cursor
and
click the
left mouse button. Because you just created a new folder your folder name
should come up so you don't need to type anything here.
BVI August 30, 1999 tab TO OKAY AND PRESS ENTER. At this point you may
want to get out of the
Jaws cursor again. tab ONCE MORE AND YOU WILL BE TAKEN TO THE
RULE NAME BOX. hit THE BACK SPACE KEY A COUPLE OF TIMES TO CLEAR THIS EDIT
BOX AND TYPE IN THE RULE NAME YOU WANT. Tab to okay and press enter. Now
tab to apply now and press enter. Tab until you hear subfolders not checked
hit the spacebar to check those. Tab until you hear apply now. Press
enter. Outlook should say these rules will be applied to your "in box"
which is what you want. Press enter again. Tab to close. Hit enter. Tab
to okay. Press
enter.
Hope this helps and that I haven't made any boo-boos. As I said it is a
lengthy process but worth it once you get it set up
