>From The Hill House
Hi all
This information may not be what you are after - I am not sure about
regular chat rooms or an open chat but I have just installed ICQ on my
student's computer and was not sure how to use it without the mouse. I
asked an ICQ newsgroup and found the following shortcuts in the program -
there may also be shortcuts in Help in the program you use.
ICQ Keyboard Shortcuts:
Activate/Deactivate ICQ Window = Control Shift A
Simulate Double clicking on System Tray = Control Shift I (this allows you
to read waiting messages. If no messages to read it also allows you to
scroll through your contact list - press ENTER to send a message once name
is selected - type message and TAB to SEND button or Alt S)
Create an ICQ Note = Control Shift N
Activate Websearch = Control Shift S
Copy Browser's URL to search edit = Control Shift D
Check for New email = Control Shift C
Send Email = Control Shift E
Advanced Find = Control Shift F
Bring ICQ Notes to front = Control Shift M
Search User in Contact List = Control Shift F3
Create a new reminder = Control Shift R
I found my program was already set to use keyboard shortcuts (it is
probably the default) so you may not need to use the 3 instructions below
to activate shortcuts. I do not know how to get to the ICQ Menu by
keyboard but if you have sighted help this can be done.
1 go into your preferences through ICQ Menu (icq button then preferences
and security, then preferences)
2 then click on the 'contact list' tab
3 there is a 'use icq shortcuts' edit button - this lists the following
shortcuts (shortcut keys can be altered in here too)
