Hi,
This may not be the best way to switch back and forth between JFW
and Jaws for Dos, but it works for me.
Assume you're in JFW and you want to conveniently access a Dos program
and use Jaws for Dos.

1. Create a shortcut using either the
alt-enter key combination from the task bar, or
from within Windows Explorer.
Specify the Dos program you want to run as the executable, and in the
place where you have the chance to specify a bat file before launching the program put
in something like loadjaws.bat. This bat file could of course
be called anything you want. Don't put anything in the bat file
initially, just tell the shortcut there is one.
2. When you finish creating the shortcut, run it.
You'll be in your Dos program but with JFW still running. Don't worry, you're
only half way there.
Now press alt+spacebar.
This brings up a menu for editting various properties within a Dos window which is
where you are.
Find the item that says close on exit, and check it. You do this to get rid of that
annoying message about "your Dos program is ready to run" or whatever that silly
thing says.
3ish. Now, using that same menu, close your Dos program.
Edit the bat file you specified when you created the shortcut and first call
the jfwkill program. If you're using jfw331 and you installed it on the
C drive the entry would look like:
c:\jfw331\jfwkill.exe
This program unloads Jfw from memory without the usual prompt.
The rest of the bat file would contain whatever file you normally use
to load Jaws for Dos. This of course depends on your synthesizer, but if you don't know
what it is, a good place to look would either be your autoexec.bat or your
c:\jaws directory assuming your Jaws for Dos is on the C drive.
 Caveats:
The above instructions were written as I was listening with one ear to
a telephone conversation my wife was having with her mother from the next room.
I must always cover my back.
There are many on the list who will see any errors in this
set of instructions and gleefully point them out. And that's a good thing.
Good luck,
Brad Trainham
