Hi Olga,
Do all of the predefined graphic labels such as the buttons in MS Word and
the Volume Icon in the SYS Tray read correctly on your notebook? Can you
play a Real Audio clip while hearing speech from DEC Access32? If the
graphic labels that were labeled at the 256 color depth by HJ are not
spoken, there will be problems labeling icons in new programs. If the
sound chip in the notebook does not support multiple streams, it will make
listening to audio on the net difficult.
When someone on the list says that a particular notebook works fine with
JFW, they should address these questions. We have a Quantex notebook at
our center with a Neomagic 256AV chip that handles both video and audio.
The driver has a February 1999 date, and the predefined graphics are not
spoken by JFW. Although I can switch to a Real Audio stream, I can't hear
DEC Access32 or Elegance while listening to it.
