Hi, Marsha here.  You make a hanging indent by doing the following:

1.  Press ctrl plus q.
2.  Then press the letter T along with that same control key.
3.  Then put what you want to put on your left-hand side of the page.
4.  Then press the tab key without spacing after your previous character.
5.  Make sure to look at your coordinate keys.  Use alt plus the delete to do
this.  The first number you will get is the X coordinate.  That is the one you
will want to take note of.  This will tell you whether your indented words or
characters are lined up.  If you are a couple of pixels off, that doesn't
matter much.  When you read these coordinates, you will be getting those number
which will be pixels which are little blips of lights on the screen.
