Hi all: I'm working on a problem with my Alva Model 380. I'm using it with JFW 3.3135 in Windows 98 and I'm using the Parallel port. I am encountering very strange behavior today. First of all, when I boot up, I get a row of dots clear across the display. For the most part, when JAWS starts up at my network login prompt, the Braille display doesn't come to life. I have renamed the vxd file in Windows\system\iosubsys like Humanware recommends. The strange thing is, I seem to lose all functionality of the Alva. What I mean is if I turn off the Alva and then turn it back on, there's no response. There's no noise like it is supposed to make when you turn it off and then back on. But when I pull the plug out of the back of the unit and then plug it back in, I'm in business again, but not for long., Again, I lose functionality. Now, the Alva works fine when I boot to the Dos Prompt. It doesn't start automatically when I go into DOS; I have to use the abt380 1 command line. I don't recall this problem in Windows 95 nor do I recall it with the Alva 280. Has anyone else been having this problem? What are your recommendations? If you send a response to the list, could you please CC me at work? [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks. - Visit the jfw ml web page: http://jfw.cjb.net
