Hello Steven ,
Here is the answers to your questions.
1. Can you create short-cut keys such as ALT+1 for example to read a
specific area or item on the screen.
Yes, its called creating a frame. You can then assign a hot key to that
frame. There is a frame manual on the JFW web site that will explain this
in more detail than you will probley need. There is also a explanation on
the tapes that come with JFW.
2. Can you use JFW to search the screen with the mouse, for example a
specific string of text such as comments for example and move the mouse
pointer to it?
Yes, You can do it with the Jaws cursor. Just hit the - key on the number
pad, the top right key on the number pad to turn on and off the Jaws cursor.
You can then use the arrow keys to move the cursor to where you want it and
then route the PC cursor to the Jaws cursor by hitting the insert key and
the + key on the number pad. The +key is the PC cursor. You can also route
Jaws cursor to PC cursor.
There is also a Jaws find command. You just invoke it and type your search
string and hit enter. It will then move to the location of the first
instance of the search string on the page and you just cancel and your
there.
3. How is JFW on the WEB?
JFW 3.31 is fantastic on the net!!! It turns a web page into a word
processor like envirament. You can select text the same way you do in a
word processor, by shift and down arrow or whatever. You can also arrow
down through the page. It is only because of this program that I learned
that there was text in between some of the links to explain what the link
was. You can also skip all the links by hitting insert enter on the numb
pad. Sometimes it takes a couple of times.
Hope this helps,
Scott
