Jharkhand state is known for natural resources. The state of tribes. The
almighty has blessed Jharkhand with nature, winds, water, plateau, soil present
the vivid story .the culture of state is transparent as blue sky vivid and
clear.
With such landscapes as backdrop in the film media audiences would surely
welcome. it is correct time to inform the world about the chotanagpur film
industry.
BEGINNING-tracking film culture in Jharkhand, it emerges with the sahdev family
lohardagga and ganguli family Ranchi.the sahdev and ganguli can be treated as
representatives to the great Jharkhand film industry. The doyens who made films
with cast and crew of chotanagpur are surely to be congratulated. There is need
to assemble the data distributed here and there. An eye to look for honest
description is needed.
AAKRANT made under the banner of drishyantar international, 1988 can be placed
as the first jhollywood feature film. A film based on the fundamental issues of
jharkahnad.issues of deforestataion, labour migration, commission, corruption
figure prominently. Rajadera (netarhat), Ranchi, filmcity mumbai, famous
studio, borivali were locations under the direction of Vinod Kumar. Noted actor
sadashiv amrapurkar with shrila majumdar, shakila majid, and c.s dubey acted.
Baldev narayan tahkur,vishwanath uraon,massod jami,tapas chakraborty
represented the Jharkhand belt. However the end product could not reached meant
audiences timely. In 1990the film however saw the light of day with doordarshan
premiering the movie. Times magazine worked on the videos.
Initiative of doordarshan later supplemented by times magzine won the public
view for movie.
NAGPURI FILMS- The first nagpuri film made in Jharkhand was probably SONA KAR
NAGPUR.the feature film educated the nagpuri audiences with self-respect and
civil behaviour.it was successful initiative to represent a fresh genre of
films. Dhannjay nath tiwari, who directed the film given a good beginning with
some technically half baked interpretationsd.made under the MA chinamastike
productions, the film had purushottam tiwri, sosan bara,pushpa kullu,mukund
nayak as actors. The film had only Jharkhand actors.
PREET is said to be the 2nd nagpuri film of jharkahnd.already hit and popular
nagpuri audiocassette acted as the thread for the movie. Conceived by Salem
group, the numbers of album were quite popular. The phenomenal success of
nagpuri album moved the Salem group to plan movie on the lines of hit SONA KAR
NAGPUR.shot on 16mm camera PREET failed miserably at box office. Screenplay and
directorial efforts were not enough to sail the nagpuri film. Hindi and nagpuri
language were initiated in content, the concept didn’t clicked.inspite of all
Jharkhand cast, hit numbers, director Ravi
chaudhri.
SAJNA ANARI the 1998-99 hit SAJNA ANARI is one of few films that made a mark.
With able director in Pravir ganguli from Kolkata the film was shot in
adjoining locations of Ranchi and ramgarh.technically reach Pravir initiated
afresh approach from audiences prejudices to nagpuri films. Like it is said
good story is basis of any good movie. SAJNA NARI had Yugal Kishore mishra as
writer and producer. Most of the cast were from Jharkhand.Till now many people
have had entered the moving nagpuri film industry.
GUYAINA NO1 the 2001 Aabhas Sharma movie contributed the competition. Made
under few actors from region and outside film didn’t fetched well.
DARK PHASE-Yr 2001-2006 can be said as the dark phase with no significant films
from Jharkhand.Ashok saran brought a check to dark phase with films like BLACK
IRON MAN BIRSA and OOLGULAN-EK-KRANTI.the two films successfully attempted to
compliment the bollywood. Hrishikesh mishra with Bhojpuri –Hindi film PIYA TOSE
NAINA LAGE forwarded the jhollywood-bollywood tradition. Yugal Kishore mishra’s
JUGNI has just released
SMALL-BUDGET-Nagpuri films such as TUAR, MAI KA DULARA, PYAR KAR, and MEHNDI
were also experimented to cash in on the small budget –sure business thought.
The idea of making nagpuri albums flourished at this time. Bulk of nagpuri
video albums followed suit. The first nagpuri album Jharkhand region came.
Names such as SDALAM PURNIMA, MOR SAJNI, KHALLAS, DIVYA RANI, CHAL GORI RANCHI
SAHAR, PARDESI SAJNA and many more added to nagpuri album –film initiative.
