It is my impression that caste dominates discussions in Bihar, is hidden behind "class" in urban Bengal and Bangladesh, and is less important to those who call themselves Jharkhandi and Adivasi. Adivasis or Jharkhandis in West Bengal, Assam and Bihar tend to be wary of those who discuss caste or "defend" it in any form. Prabir
