Sit ? in of Nange Paon Satyagraha on 19/03/2008 at the Budha Talaab, Raipur
A Report
On 19th March, we observed one day long Sit ? in with the following demands:
? Calling check upon coal ? smuggling en masse in police districts ?
Surajpur.
? Dismissal of District Manager Civil Supplies Corporation Surguja, Sri
S.C.Dwedi.
Along with Sri Sumant Paikra, Ramkali Singh, Ramraj Kushwaha,G.S.Chouhan &
Rajesh Singh Sisodia of Nange Paon Satyagraha, Sri Nilesh Munje, State Co -
ordinator of Voluntary Action Network India & Sri Brajesh Sharma, State in
charge of CECOEDECON, were also present for the whole time to express their
solidarity with us.
We are grateful to the media persons especially Sri Sandeep Bhattacharya
(CHRONICLE), Sri Satish Singh Thakur (HARIBHOOMI), Sri Krishna Goswami
(NAVBHARAT), Sri Rajesh Gupta (DESHBANDHU), Ms.Sunita Jha (PRAKHAR) and many
others who not only came to our tent but gave a wider coverage to the issues
raised by us in the esteemed columns of their newspapers.
We after assurance of A.D.M. Raipur Sri Toppo ended our strike in the evening.
We handed over memoranda to the His Excellency Governor and Honorable Chief
Minster of Chhattisgarh. A.D.M. took our memoranda on behalf of the Government
and the State.
Media of Surguja too extended its maximum support to the issues raised by us.
Columns of local media covered our concern even though we were to observe our
protest at Raipur.
We call upon attention of SECL officials and District Administration Surguja to
jointly work for eliminating the malady of coal ? smuggling.
