How to join Indian Politics?
The first thing, I will ask you to list out things which made you, think that
you can be a politician. And consider how far you have to go to hit your
target. Like all other profession Indian politics has it own speciality.
Remember, Indian Politics demand too much from you, especially if your family
background doesnât belong to a similar line.
Suppose, if you or someone else has just finished his/her graduation (17+
years of education; 10+2+3+2 or 10+2+4+1) level of education in any field and
joined a MNC. Also, s/he belongs to a âmiddle or upper middleâ class
financially secured family. I mean s/he doesnât have to worry for financial
responsibility towards his/her immediate family members.
Then -
Join IAS or State level civil services with a good knowledge on your home
Stateâs (Gujarat / Punjab / Bengal etc.) regional Economics, History and
Geography; Also, keep eyeing on all political stuffs and always remember that,
politics is a practical thing, it demands more practice than a software
language, you cant learn it from books.
When you become either of two then, expose your action to public. And, make
broader your network, support local NGOs, impress public by real work and
bringing attention of media on you (not exactly as Raj Thakery is doing, you
can try other methods) and learn about vote bank.
Now, you will be facing problem of fiancé and a break from any political
party like a talented artist wants from a producer of a movie. But, by this
point you will be already a public figure. Approach any of regional/national
political party of a nice goodwill and present them evidences of your last
public work & popularity to explain them that, you can certainly make a
difference and why should they launch you?
This 3rd and next steps will be very strategic, there are more competition
here than an IAS exam. At this stage you will have to forget, what is good and
bad and just to understand the real story, means a Power/Position is only good
and rest all will go on your sacrifice list.
Never worry for finances, once you will be having needed qualities, you will
be easily sponsored. It is not tougher than becoming a software professional.
Also, our politics demands a certain specialization that is treated or known
as bad by general people or professionals. But, you should take it as a part of
this profession and you have to learn and use those skills if you want to be in
that profession. Our entire political system and internal structure of economy
is designed in British period that will take more time to be up to dated. Also,
we are the biggest democracy of this world that, keeps one Australia as a
migrant (NRIs) and another one get added every year.
At last, your friends, well-wisher, supporters, family members or whoever
will support you in your way, are part of your political career, always try not
to let them down. Politics is not a one man business. Itâs a great business
of exchange, I mean give and take. Be honest in distributing everyoneâs share
to them as much s/he deserve. You will be leader not only of public but also,
for a team that works hard to keep you up and fit.
