NIT, Rkl Sports Stadium is being named after Former Indian Captain Hockey Wizard Padmashree Dillip Tirkey at a special function on April 15, 2008. Dilip alongwith his wife Mira were present at the occasion. Dilip Tirkey, The Ace Defender, is the only Indian to figure in the FIH's 18-member men's All-Star hockey team for 2007.
