The maximum overall income to Railways come from the Western and Southern regions. Perhaps carrying coal and iron ore from Orissa, Jharkand and Chattisgargh or Bihar might be contributing to the Railway's income from carrying goods, more than other regions

Over the last 150+ years, the only track in Odisha that has been laid with minimal economic consideration is between Khurdha Road and Puri. All the other tracks have been laid to haul the minerals or Odisha happened to be lucky to be between Chennai-Howrah or Howrah-Mumbai. The Odisha specific tracks such as Cuttack-Paradeep, Paradeep-Haridaspur , Daitari-Banspani, Nergundi-Talcher- Sambalpur are all laid to haul minerals. Unless the kings of the erstwhile princely states of Mayurbhanj and Paralakhemundi invested in the narrow gauge tracks connecting their states with the old SE Railway, those two lines would never been built by Indian Railroad. While step-mother India is ruled by biased regional fanatic short-sighted leaders, we just can't put the entire blame on our state politicians for not strongly advocating the interest of the state in the parliament. Our press and people (including the intelligentsia) are equally quiet. Thanks Jharkhand Forum | Jharkhand.org. in/forum
