1. The problem of population explosion and need for family planning has very aptly been supported by Dr.Muhammad Mukhtar Alam. 2.Dr.Alam perhaps forgets that the Muslim popuion increases by leaps and bounds in India due to the "Personal Law" for Muslims, who could have four wives at a time and divorce the one becoming pregnant bt triple talaq in a few minutes and take another in her place. 3. Dr.Alam knows that family planning would not be acceptable to Muslims and there was a TV report of a 45 year old Hyderabadi Muslim having 37 children and still continuing the "production"!! 4. The Mines in Bihar have been known to exist at least since 100 years and are still producing minerals to sustain large Steel and other Industries. While development of the area cannot be stopped by the few vested interests fighting for maintaining the poverty of the area for facilitating "harvesting" with ease by evangelical groups, one cannot deny the fact that afforestisation should be encouraged throughout to compensate for the ecological damages caused by mining activities

The UN estimates that the number of people on the planet will grow from 6.7 billion to 9.2 billion by the year 2050. It says the rate of growth is unsustainable when climate change is damaging farm land and reducing water supplies. Robert Engelman from the World Watch Institute is an author on population issues. "Concern about the future world population is very much warranted, frankly it has been for a while," Mr Engelman said.. "Taking some sort of actions that are completely within the scope of our values and what we believe is right is entirely appropriate to do and there actually many such actions that we can take.."
