The comments put forward by Mr.     is a bundle of scrap and needs no attention.
When the vested interests of so called NGO-s is exposed, these could be termed
as Scrap? Why don't you explain what is scrap?

The greed of becoming tribals or SC only to enjoy reservation facilties also
stands exposed in the process.
You had suggested that Caste Hindu-s should be treated as SC/ST and this was
the response!! and now you turn the table?

Who came from where is better not discussed. By discussing the issue he has
already opened the Pandora's Box.
It is important as many migrants from TN and illegal immigrants from Bangladesh
have joined the bandwagon of Adivasi-s and Dalits in Kerala to inflate the
number of claims!! The Tamilnadu labour brought are NOT TRIBALS as you term and
belong to other Castes, brought only for economic reasons. The actual tribals
in Kerala are a negligible percentage of actually projected by nGO-s. Why don't
you syudy recognized tribals of Kerala from the Manuals?

Arayans have also migrated from other countries and are now taking pride in
calling them Hindus.
The research has revealed that there was no Aryan migration and it was a theory
concocted by British to divide the Indian Community. Read the details available
on web.

Who is tribal and who is not or 2-5% of them are tribals and rest have migrated
during British time is not relevant when those farmers are struggling to
protect their only source of livelihood.
So, you support that the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrant Muslims
from Bangladesh working in the Estates too fall in the category? Have you
studied who are the recognised tribals in Kerala? Or just talking through the
hat? THESE ARE NOT FARMERS, MOST OF THEM ARE "BROUGHT IN AGITATORS FROM
TAMILNADU, WHO DO NOT EVEN KNOW THE LOCAL LANGUAGE MALAYALAM.

Britisher Harrison has not imported the land from Britan. It is the land of
those who were habitats of that area.
The land was leased out for 100 years by the then Travancore maharaja under
influence of British rule. It is not famland or farmers but the entire area is
mountainous suitable only for Rubber and other Crops. And you call it a "Farmer
Agitation?" Have you ever been to Pathanamthitta near Sabarimala range?
Once the lease was over, the land belongs to the Govt. and not the agitators
brought in by vested interests.

Questin who has troubled the water is more important rather than vaque
statement blaming activists. It is pity to note that such major issue that is
going to affect the lives of 5000 families is given a tag of minor issue.
The troubles in the area is exaggerated by NGO-s and many outsiders too join to
increase the crowd of demanders as they are promised land allotments though
they have nothing to do with tribals.

The allegation of musclemen- When the workers of the Estate doing tapping of
Rubber..etc. were refused entry by blocking of the roads by NGO led agitators,
naturally these obstructors were removed by law and the workers.

NGO-s do not join or organise such agitations for genuine Social Causes but for
a hidden agenda up their sleeves which they are aware, better not discussed
here.

Dear all

I DECLARE SOLIDARITY WITH THE 5000 FAMILIES IN THE HILLY TERRAINS OF CHENGARA.
We the civil society organizations have a role to play to support the struggle
of those thousands of Dalits and Adiviwasis who are struggling to protect their
farm land and existence.
It is proved beyond doubt that political parties left or right are all one when
they want to displace poor farmers more particularly tribals. The double speak
of the national level polticical leaders has bring down their image in the
minds of people. Rajnath Singh speaks of not acquiring even a single inch of
farm land while is at Singur and keeps mum at Chhattisgarh where his party
government is behind the blood of tribals for acquiring their land for the
house of TATAs.
Similar is the situation with left and other parties. This makes me to believe
that the government is run by the industrial corporations and our political
leaders are dummies,.
Modus operandi is also common where the lands are targeted for forcible
acquisition. Hired musclemen are put to service to break the moral of the
agitating farmers and brave armed police shows their faces on innocent
agitating farmers who come out on streets to protect their rights. This has
happened at Kalinga Nagar, Nandigram, Singur, Guargaon and today at Greater
Noida. Same is the fate for the Chengara land owners. When hired musclemen and
people from other areas can be showcased to show off as if the Gram Sabha is
conducted, any thing and every thing is possible in our country. Why media is
silent is also no more a secret.
The comments put forward by Mr.     is a bundle of scrap and needs no

You will be opening the Pandora's box if the punishment suggested by you is
implemented, as Caste Hindu-s would be only too happy to be recognized as
tribals or SC so that they could enjoy Reservation facilities throughout their
life.

Regarding the Chengara agitation in Kerala, hardly 2-5% of the agitating
population are real tribals. Over 90% of them are migrant labourers from
neighbouring Tamilnadu belonging to different Castes, who were brought for
working in the plantations since the times of British. After the Reservations
and other facilities were introduced, they too joined the bandwagon as tribals
agitating for the allotment of land and money for housing in Kerala State.

The land belongs to the erstwhile British owned Harrison Malayalam Plantations
of Rubber and Tea, Cardamom..etc. , which was closed down due to mismanagement
and CPM led labour unrests and violent killings later.

The claim that 5000 families of dalits are agitating..etc.is gross exaggeration
of the situation to sensationalise the issue. Though the lease to the Co.
ended, the property belongs to the Govt. and the workers from Tamilnadu want
the land to be distributed to them and they claim their rights as Dalits and
Tribals which really they are not.

Several activists are fishing in the troubled waters politicising the issue
which is resisted by the CPM led Govt who cannot distribute the Govt. land
released from the 100 years lease now as the rules do not permit the same.

If CPM were in opposition, they would have been part of agitation but as a
ruling party, they are helpless.

The migrant workers who have come from Tamilnadu have to return to TN or take
up other jobs as they do not have any claim to the land either as tribals or as
residents of Kerala State. The Kerala High Court has already given the verdict
that all encroachers of the land should be evicted within the stipulated time
which the Govt. couldn't do so far.

It is a minor issue blown out of proportion by the NGO-s and media showing all
these families sleeping in the open and living in temporary plastic sheets
roofed hutments .

I think the time has come to boycot so called hindus or any religionwho
practices untouchability and as apunishment they should be made or converted in
to tribals or dalits so that they experience the pain of being the victim of
untouchability.

Dear Friends

INSIGHT Invites all for

Discussion & Documentary Screening on Chengara's Land Struggle (Kerala)

Time:          5 pm
Venue: -     Indian Social Institute (ISI), Lodi Road, New Delhi
Date:-          13th August (Today)

100 years after the historic land and dignity struggle of Dalits in Kerala led
by great Ayyankali, thousands of landless Dalits in Kerala are now staging a
sustained struggle powered by their sweat and blood. The hilly terrains of
Chengara in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala are witnessing a historic land
struggle by more than 5000 families, majority of them being Dalits and
Adivasis. The Chengara struggle has exposed the deep anti-Dalit sentiments in
the Kerala society and showed how it manifests materially and culturally in the
present Kerala context and has dismantled the tall claims of Kerala model.
The CPI (M) led Left Democratic Front Government has taken an anti-people stand
and vehemently opposed the ownership of land by the landless, eventually
compelling the people to take possession of the Harrison estate, the lease
period of which was over years ago.
The peaceful struggle which began on 4th August 2007 has completed more than a
year. CPI (M) cadres and the goons of Harrison Malayalam, a business giant,
have blocked the road to Chengara land struggle area
thereby denying supply of food and medicines to the people. Moreover, they
detain the struggling men and women activists and torture them for days
together.
The civil society members were prevented from entering the area by the goons
pretending as workers. This happened in front of Police and other Government
officials indicate the direct involvement of the State in forcing the people to
starve and die. Indian Vision, a Malayalam TV Channel has reported the
abduction and
torture of four women activists. The silence of majority of mainstream media
and the leftist "cultural leaders" has been instrumental in aggravating the
situation.
We are afraid that yet another Nandigram kind of situation prevails in Chengara
and it is time for us to form solidarity at the national level to prevent it.
WE URGE ALL THOSE WHO ARE CONCERNED TO COME FORWARD IN SOLIDARITY TO
THE CHENGARA LAND STRUGGLE AND TO PLAN SOLIDARITY STRATEGIES.

" The so called caste-hindus are bitterly opposed to the depressed class using
a public tank not because they really believe that the water will be thereby
spoiled or will evaporate but because they are afraid of losing their
superiority of caste and of equality being established between the former and
the latter. We are resorting to this satyagraha not because we believe that the
water of this particular tank has any exceptional qualities, but to establish
our natural rights as citizens and human beings."
