Dr.Fernandes,

Have you studied the techno-economic feasiblity study of the project before
talking through your hat that car factory can come up in 400 acres?

Didn't you hear the expert clarifying that due to the far away locations of
other plants and the requirements of the samll car components are different,
all the anxillary units to supply the components for the car would be
manufactured in hundreds of factories set up in the area, and the body parts
and assembly lines would be the main structure.

Mamta Banerjee does not see the reason and is adamant to get political mileage
from this movement though the image of the Country as well as future
investments in WB will be in jeopardy.

Indeed people who want to "harvest the poor" ************* would desire
perpetuation of poverty for easier conversions of the gullibles. Assurance of
skilled jobs cannot be made by any organisation for everyone, as acquisition of
skill varies with individuals. While intelligent and smart ones would be placed
at higher levels and lowest ranks would be in unskilled.

Nobody uses this matter for their own purpose except mamata Banerjee and
************* . The loss will be for the local people, the WB State and the
Country.

There are many other Countries who have invited Tata-s to establish production
of nano-s in their Country due to expected huge international demands. Here we
have the industrialist almost completing his project at Singrur and people are
chasing him away from final stages!!

And many Ph.D-s and experts in Social activity taking active part in the
expulsion of Tata from there!!

You cannot go by this one-track thinking. It is true that these plots are not
contiguous. In that case the negotiations would be precisely on how to make
them contiguous. Exchange of plots is a possibility. One has also to ask why a
small car factory needs more than 900 acres. The car factory can come up
without these 400 acres unless you support real estate speculation in the name
of development. I am not worried about what Mamata says. She is using the issue
for political purposes. We have to be concerned about the people who are losing
their land and sustenance. Most of them will not even get compensation. There
will not be any rehabilitation. Some young persons have been sent for training
but the letter choosing them for that training says that the are not assured a
job after it. We have to look at the social consequences of economic
development and see how these two can be combined instead of taking a stand for
or against those who are using these
 issues for their own purpose.

I find there are so many Dr.-s in this group, either medical or otherwise?

The 400 acres mamata demands is scattered as smaller plots of land throughout
the 100 acres. Many of them have already been land-filled and constructions
have come up for ancillary and other units.

Even if TATA-s abandon and return the land as demanded, they cannot be used for
agriculture unless all the structures are demolished and carted away and the
landfills removed bull dozers to original levels.

Will Mamata foot the bill for restoration of these 400 acres to tillable land?
Tata-s would not lose anything by abandoning Singrur, as the assembly lines are
already ready in Uttarkhand and other locations of Tata Motors and the NANO
would be launched perhaps in the original schedule.

What I would Like to ask is that if the question of the livelihood of
the farmers and the landowners is in question, cant Govt give them some
sort of alternative source of income. How can it be made sure that those
who will get their land back(supposedly) would us eit for cutivation and
not sell it of as the land prices around Singur has skyrocketed
