A friend of mine in Chennai told me that the application of his colleague who is a muslim, who applied for a short term work visa for submitting a paper in his parent company, was turned down stating 'detailed probe necessary'. They make no secret of their intentions when it comes to national security even though this muslim friend was a brilliant, sincere and innocent man!
Such actions will be necessary for sometime, though apparently discriminatory. We have to break the financial, physical, moral and intellectual back of militant movements. Then only we can relax. We should remember how Punjab was reined in. In a Coimbatore court the main accused in the serial blast in 1998 , openly challenged the authorities to remove the security for Modi and Advani and see what happens to them. But what is the result ? The Tamilnadu Govt has made the case weak and the court released most of the accused. The TN govt did not even file an appeal till date ! Within a month, they allocated a communal based reservation of 3.5 % to Muslims and Christians each ! Award indeed for 'noble' acts ! Venkatasubramanian
