Chattisgarh Govt. had intelligence information of Binayak Sen helping the
Naxalites and maoists in the Jagadalpur forests where most of the areas are
dominated by the terrorists who have used mines and grenades aplenty to kill
the armed forces.

Witthe intelligence inputs in hand, Police were instructed to detain Dr.Sen for
further investigations. The Indian Law does not allow detention beyond a
certain period without the permission of the judiciary, and obviously the
Courts would have granted permission for the extended detention.

It was unwise for anyone to have intimidated the DGp in this matter in a
foreign Country, bombarding him with questions reg. detention of a
"anti-National" and getting a post card signed by him under "duress".

Human Rights does not cover anti-National activitiDr. Binayak Sen has
apparently been accused of. Some NGO-s from abroad too have been trying to get
him acquitted when a Bengali girl along with a foreigner on tourists visa were
detained and sent back, preventing them entering Chattisgarh area.

If distribution of arms to Civilians in J&K is acceptable to defend themself
against infiltrators and terrorists, the same policy was followed in Salwa
Judum here in Chattisgarh and why only here the action is questioned?
